Looking to update the family tent and tossing up between the Southern Cross & Freedom canvas touring tents. Has any one had any problems with either brand of tent. I have noticed that on the freedom camping web site they are closing down?
So who will look after any warranty claims if they happen?.

Have used the Southern Cross Ultimate 9 in the past & have to say it's a quality item. Never had a problem with it in rain & wind & easy to set up. 4 pegs 1 pole. One small thing is it packs up in a 1200X1200mm bag & is quite large & awkward to lift.
Also have one of thier Roof Bags. Did have a problem with the tie down tags pulling out after a Simpson Trip. I rang SC & they were very helpful. Took the bag back & repaired it and fitted extra tiedowns at my request... all without any cost. Excellent & friendly to deal with.
Don't have any experience with Freedom, sorry.

Would also recommend the SC tent. Mine is 3x3 and when folded fits nicely between the 40 litre Autofridge and the side of my 80 series (laid flat). Have been all over Aust over the past 30 years and now have a SC swag for when travelling alone.

See what is on offer at the big camping shows (like Rosehill) where they offen have bargains.

Cheers

I have a SC Ultimate Trekker and a couple of swags plus a rack bag and a few other bits all top notch stuff, never any issues with any of my SC stuff and have had them for many years.

Hi there. We've had a Freedom 13 x 10 touring tent for years, No problems, no warranty claims. I wonder if there will be some closing down bargains???? My expectation is that, if they close down, that's it as far as warranty or after sales is concerned. But with their quality, it shouldn't matter much!
The design makes it a cinch to put up and take down; a bit bulky to store inside the vehicle and a bit heavy to toss up on the roof rack every morning; better for a few days than putting up every day; really good water and wind performance; brilliant cross ventilation.

Nah they have already closed their store in Melbourne but are still up and running via the net. And they have numerous dealers still selling their excellent tents and gear. There are no differences between either brand and both are considered to be each others equal in my opinion. I own a Freedom Tent and are currently selling my Southern Cross Camper in the Trader Section. Nothing wrong with it we just wanted to update to another one.

I checked their website and I see the doors are still open at this stage.
